Chris Cochran
Senior Design Engineer
Chris joined Farr Yacht Design in October 2005 as a Design Engineer. He previously worked as a naval architect for noted multihull designers Morrelli & Melvin, where he gained practical experience designing, engineering & racing on fast sailing craft.
Originally from the Detroit area, Chris started racing keelboats while in high school. He soon began studying yacht design in his free time and worked at a sail maker to get experience in the marine industry. Chris then went on to study Naval Architecture & Marine Engineering at the University of Michigan, graduating with honors in 2003. He continued his naval architecture studies at U of M and received his Master's degree in 2004, where he designed & tank tested a 1/3 scale Mini 6.50 for a final project. Chris performs structural calculations and prepares construction drawings.
Whether stacking up the offshore miles or doing laps around the cans, Chris enjoys sailing as much as possible, and is looking forward to doing more racing on the East coast.
