This design extends the development of pure cruising boats begun with our trailer yacht range and carried on in the 11.6 meter and 16.6 meter fast sloops commissioned in 1978. The initial brief was for a boat to compliment and existing 11.9 meter (39 ft) yacht to sail well, have a spacious and superbly finished interior, and top equipment all round.

The resulting design called on our experience in racing and cruising yacht design and incorporates our normal contemporary light displacement features of fractional rig, moderate beam, fine entry and powerful stern to give an easily driven boat that performs well in all conditions and is a pleasure to sail.

The profile departs from our norm however, in the way of transom, and this change was made to gain the advantages of greater deck, cockpit and internal space aft, together with the practicalities of this shape for cruising. The fractional rig has proven advantages in handling, not the least of which are the small headsails and the ability to sail well under mainsail only. However, the total sail area is high enough to give sparkling performance in all conditions.

The internal arrangement is straightforward, but care was taken to provide large galley and head spaces, abundant storage for sails, gear, food and equipment, and generous settee berths with wide shelves and a full dinette facility.

A 15 hp diesel gives the yacht impressive performance under power.
