ABOUT US
The Southern Wind 102 is the latest collaboration between Farr Yacht Design, Southern Wind Shipyard and Nauta Design. After the stunning success of the Southern Wind 100, twelve yachts built in six years, the SW 102 is the advancement of that concept to a slightly longer LOA, a significantly longer waterline and a larger sailplan to provide excellent light wind performance. The interior layout is similar to the SW 100, with increased volume in critical areas due to the longer length and increased beam.

DETAILED OVERVIEW
The new hull for the SW 102 shows the Farr pedigree in its more aggressive bow styling with nearly upright and narrow stem combined with the flying knuckle for good handling. The topsides are generally straighter compared to the SW 100 and the stern has been widened to increase the heel sailing length and performance. The hull style has much in common with the hull of the SW 110, a yacht that has proven to be especially responsive to the helm and a very satisfying yacht to steer.
The sail area has been increased by 10%, compared to the SW 100, and is set on the now standard carbon mast with composite rigging. Control of the sails in concentrated aft in the working cockpit leaving generous areas amidships for the guest cockpit and sunning beds. Deck and interior layout options include the readily recognizable SW Deck Saloon and a new Streamline version with a lower house profile and either glass or teak on the top. The interior layout is the typical Southern Wind: Crew quarters aft, guest area (two double cabins and one queen size bed cabin) amidships and a generous and secluded owner’s cabin forward of the mast. The crew quarters include an ample and practical galley and features three cabins of which one can be used as an additional junior guest cabin.
A range of appendages are available including fixed keels with drafts ranging from 3.95m to 4.5m and a lifting keel with a draft range from 3.2m to 4.8m. An owner can customize the appendage choice to suit the predominant use of the yacht and the desired level of flexibility in performance and draft.
The SW 102 is designed to fulfill the requirements of the demanding owner looking for a combination of blue-water seaworthiness and exceptional light wind performance combined with exceptional styling and a superbly arranged interior and deck.
