Design No. 100/2 is the result of a request for a Pilothouse boat with exceptional performance under sail. The brief called for the IOR Rule to be considered only where rating reductions could be made without affecting the performance of the boat. Masthead rig was chosen for simplicity and to give good speed in light weather downwind sailing that would be expected off the California coast.

The internal arrangement was designed in collaboration with the owner of the boat and has a spacious, comfortable feeling, with a generous indoor "lounge" area and superb visibility. With two double private cabins this arrangement would not suit everybody's requirements, but represents a working solution for those who want to blend their recreational activity with a touch of leisure and comfort.

The first boat, NAIAD, was built by C&B Marine Santa Cruz, California.
