Design #277 - Farr IMS 40
October 1992
Conceived to be a high performance dual purpose yacht, the Farr IMS 40 is powerful, of light displacement, and delivers excellent handling characteristics in a hull form clean and nicely proportioned -- completely free of IOR distortions. The Farr IMS 40 features a long waterline length compared to length overall, and is very fast relative to its size, safe, and most of all, fun and rewarding to sail.
Four Farr IMS 40's were built and launched in 1992 with the most notable performance given by COOKSON'S HIGH 5, winning every race by huge margins at the Kenwood Cup in a display of superior speed and boat handling reminiscent of GAUCHO'S (Farr IMS 44) victory at Yachting's Key West Race Week at the beginning of the year.
Clever deck and interior design produce a dual purpose yacht exceeding minimum IMS
