Designer’s Notes
FYD was given a free hand to develop the naval architecture concept. With Southern Wind’s advanced construction technology and fanatical commitment to weight control, we were able to create a light, powerful masterpiece with aggressive hull styling, a highly advanced appendage package and a more than ample rig size. A lifting keel with a draft range of 5.5 to 3.4m guarantees excellent upwind performance and easy harbor access. Twin rudders were chosen to best match both the lifting keel configuration and the wide, powerful transom. The interior and deck styling are the product of Nauta Design and were developed in concert with the overall concept to be the “new wave in the future of Southern Wind.”
