Designer’s Notes
Design #336 Farr IMS 39 1996 Following huge success of the 40 footers MARINARIELLO, HIGH 5 and the conservative 39's RUSH and FLASH GORDON, this innovative design was conceived as a racing yacht, faster for its size and more exciting to sail at a reasonable cost. The Farr 39 is a dual purpose yacht that has been designed to be very competitive in IMS and superb in PHRF racing. With a general purpose IMS handicap of approximately 561 (566 with standard spinnakers), the Farr 39 has the capability of winning against custom ILC 40's and other IMS general purpose yachts. Suitable for club racing in IMS and PHRF, the Farr 39's moderate displacement makes this yacht easy to drive and handles beautifully around the course. The Farr 39 will also be very competitive in Grand Prix events, allowing owners the opportunity to successfully compete at this exciting level.
