Founded in 1972 by Bruce Farr in New Zealand. Over 800 designs across every class and discipline. 51 World Championships. Sustained dominance in Whitbread/Volvo Ocean Race competition. Relocated to Annapolis, Maryland in 1986. Led today by President & Senior Naval Architect Britton Ward.
Recent recognition includes the World Superyacht Award 2025 for Kiboko 4 and technical contributions to America’s Cup AC37 programs.
Britton Ward
Guides the firm’s strategic direction while remaining hands-on in hull and appendage shape development, performance prediction, and focused research programs. Hull Platform Lead for American Magic’s AC75 Patriot in the 37th America’s Cup. Lead designer of the Volvo Ocean 65 class.
A graduate of Webb Institute and MIT, Britt joined Farr in 1996 and worked directly alongside founders Bruce Farr and Russell Bowler for over a decade before assuming full ownership in 2025.
