Hull
Design
The
overall length of the Yacht is set by Rule. That left us the
freedom to choose the length of the waterline by finding the
best balance of aft overhang and transom immersion for higher
speeds downwind when the boat is upright and faster upwind
speeds with the boat heeled.
The
other major decision left to FARR YACHT DESIGN under the TP52
Box Rule is waterline beam. After exhaustive VPP (Velocity
Prediction Programs) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics)
analysis of a wide range of beam and draft variation we have
chosen a fairly wide BWL (Beam Waterline) to give exceptional
upwind speed. We have produced a beautifully fair hull shape,
a by-product of the freedom of the box rule format. We can
tailor our design and optimize the volume distribution of
the hull to suit our client’s specific type of racing
and expected weather conditions.
