To meet the growing interest in smaller, more affordable racing yachts, and with an eye towards the development of an ILC 30 class for IMS yachts, Farr Yacht Design have designed the Farr IMS 31....a smaller cousin of the very successful Mumm 36, Farr 40 & Farr 50. All of these designs share a common design philosophy that combines an easily driven, long waterline hull of light displacement, with high stability and a generous sailplan. The result is a yacht that is not only fun to sail, but also provides the performance of a much larger yacht. Although the Farr 31 has been optimized for IMS competition, it should be equally adept racing under a variety of handicapping rules including PHRF and CHS.
